This diploma focuses on health science and provides a strong foundation of the role of nutrition in health. You’ll learn to apply the Australian Dietary Guidelines and Nutrient Reference Values to dietary assessments and planning. This diploma promotes improvements in general health and wellbeing at each life stage and for Indigenous communities at the population level. Upon completion, you’ll have the option to begin working or continue studying the Bachelor of Nutrition.

Course Description

The Diploma of Nutrition will deliver an in-depth understanding of how nutrition can affect health. You’ll cover ground in the following areas:

  • An introduction to health science and human nutrition
  • Exploring the relationship between nutrition and disease development
  • Crafting personalised plans for different fitness and weight loss goals
  • Understanding and applying evidence-based practices
  • Applying the Australian Dietary Guidelines and Nutrient Reference Values when curating dietary plans.

This Diploma will set your path toward becoming a nutrition advisor or furthering your studies with a related bachelor’s degree. The course will take either one year full-time or two to three years part-time. The course is run completely online.

Course Structure

To graduate from this course a student must satisfactorily complete 8 subjects. Each subject is worth 10 credit points for a course total of 80 credit points. A normal full-time study load would see a student complete 80 credit points per year for one year. Each year hasthree Study Periods or trimesters. Each subject includes 3 hours of teaching (e.g. classroom hours, tutorials, group work, online activities) and approximately 7 hours ofself-directed study per week, totaling 10 hours ofstudy per week per subject.

Course Rules

This course is comprised of eight core subjects and no electives. Each subject has a value of 10 credit points. To satisfy the course requirements, you must have completed 80 credit points.
