Course Description

The Complete Personal Trainer program includes a Certificate IV of Fitness and all entry requirement units, as well as a Diploma of Nutrition.

You’ll get the full suite of skills, knowledge, and training needed to become a personal trainer, nutrition advisor, or nutrition coach.

The comprehensive program covers everything from learning how to construct personal training programs for clients and providing healthy nutrition advice. You’ll also learn how to build and run your own business. The Diploma of Nutrition further teaches you to provide nutritional advice and support and help your clients structure their dietary habits to meet specific fitness goals.

All theoretical elements are delivered online, while practical components will be delivered on campus and during physical work placements. The course may take up to 2 years to complete.

Course Outcomes

Once obtained, the Complete Personal Training & Nutrition Course will enable you to work as a fully qualified:

Personal Trainer

  • Health Clubs — Work for a local gym or fitness centre training your own clients as a qualified Personal Trainer. Completing the SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness alone does not allow you to conduct any group exercise classes that are formalised in a group setting. For example, choreographed to music.
  • Personal Training Franchises — Work within an established fitness franchise to deliver specialised training to its members.
  • Your Own Personal Training Business — Be your own boss and choose when and where you work with your own client network.
  • Community Fitness Settings — Support the health and fitness of your own community providing fitness advice for organised group initiatives.

Group Exercise Instructor

Plan and deliver group exercise sessions and develop gym-based programs for groups of individuals where the level of personalised instruction and ongoing client monitoring is limited. Group Exercise Instructors often work in settings such as fitness facilities, gyms, and leisure and community centres.

Nutrition Advisor

There is typically some confusion in the difference between a Nutrition Advisor and a Dietitian. While both aim to assist individuals in achieving optimal health through diet, a Dietitian has additional qualifications that allow them to provide medical nutritional therapy. A Nutrition Advisor is responsible for working with their clients to create meaningful change in their lifestyle with nutritional advice and support. This includes working one-on-one with clients to provide services such as diet and exercise plans, progress tracking and implementing a course of action or referring them to medical health professionals when necessary.

Nutrition Coach

Follow your passion for health and fitness with a career as a Nutrition Coach. A Nutrition Coach’s role focuses on helping their clients build practices and make changes to their diet to optimise their health. There are many reasons why an individual would seek help from a Nutrition Coach; they might have a fitness or performance goal they’re working towards, or simply a desire to improve their quality of life and prevent diet-related disease. As a Nutrition Coach, you’ll have a solid understanding of nutrition science and how to tailor a program to meet an individual’s specific needs, as well as being able to successfully motivate them to stay on track.
